The first Mor festival took place in August 2003. Independently run and inspired by the development of festivals such as Sonar, All Tomorrow’s Parties, the Big Chill, and Irish events such as DEAF and Wonky, Mor 2003 aimed to give a platform to a wide variety of acts, representing the level of creative activity in Ireland and beyond.

Mor 2003 featured memorable Irish debuts by a broad range of acts such as Lackluster from Finland (who has since relocated to Dublin and released 'remixselection_one' on Irish based Psychonavigation records), Canadian electroclash DJ JoJo DeFreq, French artist Colleen who released her debut album 'Everyone Alive Wants Answers' in 2003 on the Leaf label, Felix Kubin from Germany (whose Gagarin Records label is represented this year by Candie Hank), Pierre Bastien, ( and his Meccano Orchestra) from France, and from the U.K. Max Tundra and Wevie Stonder.
